On this tour we will visit the following important sites:
Mount of Olives: At the foot of the mountain lies the Garden of Gethsemane. The Mount of Olives is first mentioned in connection with David’s flight from Jerusalem through the rebellion of Absalom (2 Samuel 15:30), and is only once again mentioned in the Old Testament, in Zechariah 14:4. It is, however, frequently alluded to (I Kings 11:7; II Kings 23:13; Nehemiah 8:15; Ezekiel 11:23). According to the New Testament, Jesus had also been on the Mount teaching and prophesying to his disciples.
Traditionally, the Old City has been divided into four quarters; the Muslim Quarter, the Christian Quarter, the Jewish Quarter and the Armenian Quarter.
Jewish Quarter: The Old City is home to several sites of key religious importance including the Temple Mount and its Western Wall for Jews.
Christian Quarter: For Christians – the Stations of the Cross (Via Dolorosa) and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre – the site of the crucifixion, and the Dome of the Rock and al-Aqsa Mosque for Muslims in the Muslim Quarter.
Mount Zion: Located here is the Dormition Abbey, King David’s Tomb and the Room of the Last Supper. Also here rests Oskar Schindler, a Righteous Gentile who saved the lives of 1,200 Jews in the Holocaust.
